Huatar Earthspear is the wise, calm, and caring Chieftain of <The Earthspear Tribe>.

Personality

In-part thanks to his talks with Adalina Crowfeather, Huatar has developed a sort of sarcastic mentality when it comes to those close to him - while on the outside, he remains the calm, collective, and partially-wise bull that everyone knows him to be. He is known for accepting anyone that serves the Horde as a close ally and, sometimes, companion. His position, however, is oftentimes sullied by his endearing and roaming actions. Many have newfound respect for the Chieftain of the Earthspear simply because he shows that he is mortal, and has feelings like anyone should. He is not afraid to admit when he has an issue that must be dealt with, and he is not ashamed to admit defeat - to others, however, this is a sign of weakness.

Appearance

Huatar has gone through many changes - some of them retcons in RP. First off, he has been given a change to his fur pattern - as in, he no longer has the milky brown spots over his chest and instead has straight brown fur. His face has only one noticeable scar across his right cheek - running over his right eye and up through his brow - that causes his right eye to be slightly more narrow than the other. He is well-toned for a bull.

Sometimes he is seen carrying a calf with brown-spotted fur over his shoulders - with large, clear-red eyes.

History

Huatar's life is, by Tauren standards, a very short one as Chieftain compared to others such as Cairne Bloodhoof. Born of Earthspear Blood from his father, Grimn Earthspear - the then-current Chieftain - and his mother Aliah, Huatar was expected of many things come adulthood and his trials leading into them.

Born of a Legacy

Huatar is the only remaining chapter of the legacy of Bronn Earthspear, Huatar's great ancestor and founder of the Earthspear Tribe. While he was but a young calf, Huatar had heard all of the great stories of his even greater ancestor, and took into account all of the deeds he had done. Huatar developed a calm, wise, and patient personality from this.

Rites of Adulthood

Huatar's rites took place over the course of three weeks, beginning with the meeting of his tribe's Elder Seers to recieve visions of the task laid out before him. His first trial was to visit the very cave that Bronn Earthspear went into to create the Earthspear, and to face whatever danger was within so that his weapon can be infused with the powers of Elemental Earth and Air - though not becoming as powerful as the Earthspear itself. Before this, however, he had to recover a weapon, created by Elven hands, from the snowy landscapes of Winterspring. Once there, he had to seek out a shrine built by the Night Elves long ago and recover Zyphos, the Blade of the Wind.

The blade itself is of perfect ancient Elven craftsmanship, said to have been held by the commander that led the Night Elven resistance against the Burning Legion over ten-thousand years prior. Its runes denoted a history of violence and of abandonment - though these were imprinted in Darnassian, Huatar could understand it. Upon recovering the blade, he was forced to fight himself out of a cave full of deceased ancient Night Elves, bent on protecting the blade and to prevent Huatar from taking it.

Huatar then took the blade to the aforementioned cave, where the blade was infused with great speed and strength - allowing Huatar to swing it without hindrance and with great agility.

Trial and Tribulation to Devastation

Huatar eventually returned to the Earthspear Campgrounds to find it decimated and full of death, and destruction. All he had known was wiped out. Devastated by this horrendous act, Huatar had fled the grounds, knowing that whomever came to destroy his people would certainly return to see if there were survivors.

For the eight years since that tragedy, Huatar traveled the world to its fullest extent. His heart was wrought with pain and suffering, but he pressed on without fear or pause. He began to do his duties to Thrall's Horde - his personality had shifted entirely. He was no longer the calm and patient Tauren he was before.

Return to the Ancestral Grounds

After eight years had passed, Huatar returned to the forsaken land of his people. His heart heavy, he stepped through the campgrounds in remembrance to his people. Skeletons were half-buried, but were clearly visible. It was then that Huatar saw one of the greatest scenes he could ever imagine...

Return of the Earthspear

As Huatar walked through what was left of his Tribe's homeland, he saw something that he never had. Atop a mound was the larger skeleton of his father, Grimn Earthspear, with the fabled Earthspear in his bony hands, remains of Centaur surrounding him. Huatar had never seen this before, but as he approached, he could hear his calling. He gripped the Earthspear and pulled it out of the ground.

Thus it was, that he would be the new Chieftain of a people once-gone.

An Unfortunate Meeting - Rhonoa Ironhoof

Many months ago, Huatar had come across an awesome sight; a female Tauren fighting against all odds to protect herself from an ambush of Centaur. When he nursed her wounds, he discovered her name to be Rhonoa Ironhoof, and discovered that she had a mate and a son somewhere to the southwest of where they were. When he returned with the devastating news that only a large Tauren male could be found, slain, Rhonoa went silent for many weeks. However, she agreed to return with Huatar to Mulgore and his Tribe.

Courtship and Love-Bond

For many months following their meeting, Huatar and Rhonoa had always been seen together. Soon, their relationship had been from just a friendship to a full courtship. After many more weeks after they professed their love for one another, Rhonoa was forced to leave due to her sudden leadership over the Ironhoof tribe.

Several days later, Rhonoa returned to Huatar for guidance on how to unite her tribe with the others of Mulgore. Huatar had taken this opportunity to propose to Rhonoa through a special Love-Bond. Rhonoa had accepted.

Trials of the Ancestors; Reforging of the Spear

(Told at Story Circle, on July 11, 2009)

After a day's journey, I had arrived to the cliffs, above which the cave was positioned, as if carved into by the Earthmother, herself. I entered these caves, without knowledge of what awaited me...

Within the caves awaited the spirits of my honored ancestors...The past generations of my bloodline, all of the Chieftains of the Earthspear, and bearers of the weapon. My trials were to defeat them in combat. It started with my own father, who gave his life defending the tribe, though unsuccessfuly, during the last war... And down three more generations, before it came down to the pivotal moment...

I could not believe my eyes...Before me, as my last trial, stood the spirit of my great ancestor, Bronn Earthspear. Knowing his prowess from all the tales I have heard of him, I did not know how I could best him in combat...It was a grueling task, nevertheless, and the battle was great and lasting.

An Orc would consider it the perfect fight.

Holding on to my own life, I had fought valiantly against my ancestor...Until, at last, he had recognized my abilities...And my own prowess with the weapon he forged with his own paws. At last, my trials had ended...But what had I accomplished? Before me, each spirit that I had bested joined my ancestor, and took the Earthspear. They all combined their own spirits with the weapon... And forged this...

And now, so long as I wield the weapon, I hold all of their spirits...They fight through me, as I fight in their memories...And their strengths.

I thank you all for listening...And I pray that the Earthmother will keep you all safe.

To Become a Father...

During the weeks of Brewfest, Huatar and Rhonoa had enjoyed themselves with the rest of their kin as they celebrated the great holiday. Rhonoa, however, had soon overcome with sickness, and so left the celebrations - a concerned Huatar following. Days later, Huatar found Rhonoa sitting at their spot by the lake, silent. She mentioned visiting a Shaman to determine the cause of her sickness, unaware of what was really happening.

Rhonoa was pregnant, with Huatar's child. After telling this to him, he was overjoyed. She currently expects the child by the beginning of the Spring months.

Rudolf Spindlemaul

Soon after joining a council of Tauren, Orc, and Troll tribes and clans, Huatar was met with discrimination and prejudice - particularly from the Troll Stonetusk Clan, and several others in both the Stoneaxe Clan and the Stonehoof Tribe. Chief among these, and the most radical of them all, was an Orc who called himself "Rudolf Spindlemaul." Because of Huatar's, and the Earthspear Tribe's, affiliation with Seyna Ala'Farell Sunstrider - a Blood Elven "teenager" that was taken under care of Huatar and Rhonoa by request of his father - Rudolf harassed those of the Earthspear Tribe. It wasn't too long before his actions became radical, and overly violent. A single attack upon Huatar and Seyna, as they stood together, convicted the Orc to a sentence of Death - a wounded Huatar was to commit the execution.

However, he escaped the grasp of those who held him as the execution went underway and leaped off of Thunder Bluff. Soon, he came back through a special form of necromancy, gathered his minions, and made a devastating strike against the Earthspear Tribe. Huatar, coming to the aid of his kin, sacrificed himself against Rudolf, impaled upon a Death Knight's blade - Krolvok. The Earthspear Tribe was lost, and now without a leader.

Huatar's Return

The Tribe grieved at the loss of their Chieftain, but none moreso than Rhonoa. However, she received whispers from the spirits of Huatar's ancestors, telling her that there was, indeed, hope for the Earthspear. Taking the weapon with her, she left the Bluffs and made for the Northern Barrens to undertake Trials of the Earthspear. In the end, Huatar's spirit was recovered, and returned to his body.

Exacting Justice

Rudolf made his presence known, once again, shortly after Huatar made his return. Embodied by the spirits and strength of his ancestors, Huatar finally bested the Death Knight, Krolvok - which had forced him to commit suicide. Rudolf was taken by the Jagged Fang Clan and beheaded.

Deposing of a Chieftain

When it was realized that the Earthspear Tribe was weak under Huatar's leadership, a group of his kin - led by the Bestiarius (who is now named Mato Stormherd) - sought to replace him as their Chieftain. They were successful, forcing Huatar into exile in order to regain his bearings and learn what it meant to be a leader. He returned with hopes of improvement, but only proved to fail them once again. For the next several months, he did not bother with seeking the leadership over the Earthspear Tribe again.

However, during his time serving under Bestiarius' leadership, he took notice that the Earthspear was going down a path that he did not want to follow. To solidify his standing against the Tribe, he threw his wind-totem on the ground and left. Everyone branded him an outcast, not to be interacted with under any circumstances. His attempts to apologize were ceased when the Bestiarius took his wind-totem and crushed it in his paws. Huatar remained in exile for the next few months.

Failure

Huatar only had two things in his life that allowed him to forget everything that went wrong: Rhonoa, and their son Tremar - who was born only several days before Huatar "left" the Earthspear Tribe. During the time following, however, their relationship had been put to the test, strained. Huatar was oblivious to Rhonoa's thoughts and feelings, and did not know until she approached him one day in Stonetalon Mountains. She only confirmed what Huatar felt, and decided to leave him for reasons unknown to the bull. To this day, Huatar still blames himself for Rhonoa leaving him.

This, in turn, sent Huatar on a frenzy as he immediately left for Winterspring to live out the "rest of his existence" in the cold harshness of the land. After encountering a group of beasts that he single-handedly fought off, he was nearly-mortally wounded - until a wandering Druid found him, lying in the snow with blood spilling from his wounds. She dragged him to her home near Starfall Village.

Adalina's Care, Huatar's Rise

Huatar had awakened to a shape-shifted bear that he soon made out to be Adalina Crowfeather, and found his wounds to be mended and bandaged. Though he was weak - and he discerned that it would take quite some time to sufficiently heal. In the meanwhile, he stayed with Adalina - or close to her, in Winterspring - and sought her advice. She taught him of several life lessons, and explained to him the truth behind many of his actions and decisions. After two weeks of being in Winterspring, Huatar was finally convinced - and inspired - to return to Mulgore, and to reform the Earthspear Tribe.

Character FAQ

Question: OOC'ly and IC'ly, who is Huatar Earthspear, and why is he important?

Answer: Huatar Earthspear is not more "important" than any other Player Character that's on Wyrmrest Accord. IC'ly some see him as an influential political figure that represents moreso the Tauren nation than his own Tribe, while others only see him as a humble, gracious, and wise Chieftain that leads his tribe on an independent path that strides alongside the rest of the united Tauren Tribes, but follows its own agenda. OOC'ly, Huatar was the first Horde character made by his player that had absolutely no intentions, originally, to make him a main character - having been strictly Alliance until Huatar's creation. He was a roleplayer on Moon Guard that did little to nothing to help impact the community, and felt the need to transfer to Wyrmrest Accord to lend a helping hand to the ever-growing community.

Q: With Huatar's abilities and "powers," wouldn't Huatar be considered - as a character - overpowered and, possibly, a Mary-Sue?

A: The character was created as close to the lore as was possible with Tauren, with a little bit of personal "flair" added to it. Huatar is killable, easily weakened, and prone to mistakes - never, in any way, perfect. It is a possibility that whatever ability he has could be stemmed from his attunement to the Spirits of his ancestors.

Q: Who is Rhonoa Ironhoof, and what is the Ironhoof Tribe? Why are they in Huatar's backstory?

A: Huatar met Rhonoa Ironhoof in an incident where she fought against a small raiding party of Centaur, nearly killed in her battle. Following the battle, Rhonoa was devastated with the news that her mate was slain by, possibly, another party while her infant son was no where to be found. Since then, he took it upon himself to take care of her. They were good friends for a month until they revealed their true feelings for each other, and as Rhonoa had taken the mantle of Chieftess of the Ironhoof Tribe upon her father's death, he had asked for her hand in marriage. They bore a son, Tremar. They have been separated for several months; Huatar still does not know the reason why.
