I need a bit of help. Quite a few years ago (2013-2014?) I had made a page for my character, however, I had since tried to hide said pages not knowing how to delete them. After all this time has passed, I have decided I would like to remake these pages so they may be what they were intended. In simple terms, I would like to know how to delete the pages which I made.
Hi there Zan, Need a bit of advice on posting my Tauren's Profile here. Normally I would just do it, but this one is... problematic. See his name is Baine Bloodhoof, named after the now current High Chieftain back when he was only the leader of Bloodhoof village. I don't think I need to explain more in regards to my issue. However just the same, How do I go about making a page without making the unintentional claim that he is the same High Chief of the Tauren? Assuming we'd have a post/page with such information. While the names are the same, the two are different Tauren. One is a Warrior and leader of Thunder Bluff, while the other is a Hunter only named in honor of the first.
The World of Warcraft Naming Policy lists any names that "Include names of World of Warcraft realms, zones, or names of major characters from Warcraft lore," as a serious violation of the naming policy. Characters with names in violation of the World of Warcraft Naming Policy should not be listed on the Wiki.
Also, due to your previous antagonism toward me, seek assistance from other staff members for any future issues.
I am sorry I was not aware there was an issue since I have had the character since BC. Just moved him over to try out Wyrmrest's Horde Comunity. His old realm seemed pretty dead RP wise. If you really feel you can't or otherwise wont help, that is fine. If you could direct me to someone else that would be great. You are the only one I even remotly know since it was your post that revealed this wiki to me.
After returning from some inavtivity, I saw your cleanup message regarding one of my pages. I've made a few edits in an attempt to comply with the guildelines, which I think should be sufficient, however please let me know if additional work needs to be done.
I'll take a look at it as soon as I finish writing this policy blog post. You can also get in contact with me via live chat on one of the methods listed on my user page if you'd like to get a faster response. The other mods are in the discord with me and can help you, perhaps faster than I can.
Thumbs up. We recently got a new (and growing) moderator team after several years without an administrator. We've been trying to clean the place up, categorize things, make sure that information is current, and all of that so the site is usable and useful instead of a glance back into ancient history.
I saw the talk page regarding the noble house and I just wanted to ask two questions, the first is I thought the 30 day warning page would only be sent if said editor of page had been inactive for sometime, if that is not that the case than forgive me because I was mistaken, secondly regarding the guidelines, Do I have to change the template from organization infobox to character infobox? I was a tad confused by your messege, sorry about that.
I'm doing some random patrolling of the wiki, flagging very outdated articles, flagging empty articles, etc. I came to the page with your noble house and I saw a page that consisted of an infobox only and no actual content. If you could put content on the page.
I'm sorry, but the new theme appears to be making the character templates seem a little off. I would mind the change if it didn't mess with the look of the templates. Maybe we should have a vote whether we keep the new theme or revert to the old.
I personally like the new style and would like to keep it, I understand that it has been messing with the character templates, specifically for me, individualcharacter infobox but I do think that some of the templates currently on the wiki are a tad-outdated, so regardelss of whether or not we got back to the original look for the wiki, I do think we should discard/update some of the templates we use.
There are official templates. You have not been using them. There have been edits to the CSS/Theme to make the official templates look correct when the infoboxes transition over from classic to portable.
Yea, I agree that a lot of the older templates are outdated and in desperate need of a revamp. At the moment, what we could do is try and decide what would be best to reorganize the wiki so it's not all cluttered with messy articles and categories. It's all up to you guys how you want to approach it.
We are reworking the site theme and the templates will be updated to conform to the site theme. When we get done it will look much better. Once we are done, the templates that we are using can be modernized without issues.
Thank you for your patience. The wiki has been without an admin since 2012, so we are busy bringing it up to 2016. :) RiaSunhammer (talk) 04:25, November 5, 2016 (UTC)
Perhaps we can the Moonguard wiki editors for help? I've been to their wiki page and it is very nice and well done, perhaps they can give up some of the templates they use? We could use some of them, specifically for more in-depth roleplay pages, such as fan-made lands, armies, organizations and so on, The current organization is really good but I will admit that the MG one is better.
I didn't use the "official" template because I felt that it was outdated and very restrictive. Like I said before though, If we are to give this wiki structure we will have to agree on a single template for characters, guilds etc. We'll see what works and what doesn't. Whatever works we will go with and keep some sort of consistency.
I don't mean to be annoying but I am not fully getting one part, Are we only supposed to use a certain infobox for characters? I've gone over the policies pages several times and your blog page and I am confused on which infoboxes you want us to use.
WrAWiki:Guidelines under Character Articles. I went ahead and added a direct link to it. The blue was always head-scratching to me. It'll change over to a new skin style soon. You're welcome to suggest stuff to be added to it. Template:Infobox_character
For now, you can probably use whatever. Do suggest things that you think are vital to the box that aren't there so we can add it. But when we go through and update infoboxes, information might wind up omitted if you're using another template.
No I'm trying to add a new category entirely, I edit said page which I want to add the category too but I do not know how to do so and when I look for a category template, The options that come up say the template does not fields to edit.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there should be an option to add categories. Type in what you want your category to be. That should be all it takes. You can go to the category page and there will be a list of links there, if you want to add text to that page, you simply hit the edit button and add the content you want.
Ok I've been wording this really bad, forgive me. What I am trying to do is create a sub-category for a page, I am having trouble creating the sub-category, what I am getting at is, example, in the High Elf category in characters, in the high elf category there is a sub-category having the Dawnsworn Covenant and the House of Dawnsworn, I am attempting to make a sub-category such as that one and having a hard time doing so, hopefully I explained it properly this time. I'm sorry about all the confusion.
Not exactly, Go into the High Elf category page and at the bottom there is "Pages in category 'High Elf" but above that there is a sub-category and in the sub-category, there is House of Dawnsworn and The Dawnsworn Covenant, I'd like to add a sub-category such as that to a page.
