The Lightbound Order is a new organization founded by High Exarch Europa Lightveil after the Fourth War with the aim of defending the Light's goals across Azeroth and beyond.

Stalwart in their devotion, The Lightbound Order welcomes any honorable individual in search of a higher purpose or who possesses a desire to serve the well-being of Azeroth.

History[]

Founding[]

With the end of the Fourth War, Azeroth breathed a sigh of cautious relief. The Alliance and Horde signed an armistice, effectively ending the war and the fighting thereof. Taking advantage of this cease-fire, High Exarch Europa determined to create a new order dedicated to the defense of all noble individuals and the Light, before another war could thwart this. Europa is a Lightforged from the alternate Draenor, answering to the Council of the Exarchs. They commanded her to gather trusted allies who would serve as the leaders of the Order along with her. To this end she gathered the Lightforged mage Diviniah as well as the Half-Elf paladin Lithvia, whom Europa named Grand Artificer and High Vindicator respectively. These would be the first three officers of the new Order, and they would later be joined by the hardened warrior Karruun, who was named Grand Justicar.

The order has established its headquarters in Halaa, Nagrand, and has been hard at work to gain the respect and endorsements of other existing orders, such as the Aldor and Church of the Holy Light. With this recognition achieved, the Lightbound Order now stands in defense of the Light against the coming darkness.

Death Rising[]

Not even a year after it's founding The Lightbound Order would already be called to fight. Across Azeroth, the Scourge began to resurge and attack the living seemingly without any provocation. In truth, the Scourge was being used by the forces of The Jailer to begin his mission of bringing all souls to the Maw. The Lightbound Order quickly mounted a defense of territories close to home such as Darkshire or Redridge Mountains, and several members participated in the defense of Stormwind from the roaming bands of zombies, however it was determined that a more direct approach would be necessary. The Order agreed to send Grand Justicar Karruun with a small scouting force to investigate Icecrown and determine a course of action. There they discovered the shattered sky above Icecrown and several winged creatures ascending and descending with intent. This group was attacked by a large force of Scourge led by a necromancer. Karruun dove into the battle to buy time for the rest of the group to escape to the Argent Tourney Grounds, but was herself captured in the process. A Mawsworn Kyrian named Anthilos had intended to corrupt the Draenei with the powers of the Maw and make her into a powerful Mawsworn commander. The surviving forces brought word back to Europa and Lithvia, who immediately began preparations to save Karruun. They discovered that she was being held in the Temple City of En'kilah, under heavy guard. The Order stormed the city, freed the Grand Justicar from the spell that was beginning to overtake her mind, and then took the fight up to Naxxanar, where they first met face to face with Anthilos. After a brief battle, he remarked that they would all perish before the might of the Jailer before returning back through the Shattered Sky. When they all returned to Halaa, the Order's leadership convened to discuss the matters and decide their next step. The leadership unaninmously agreed: an inquisition of the Shadowlands would be necessary to defeat Anthilos and the Jailer. The Lightbound Order immediately began preparations to this end.
